As the TAS and JIS soccer teams entered the field to begin training for the upcoming game, the spectators began their bellows, encouraging them with chants of adoration and praise. The boys themselves were filled with determination, a fire in their eyes, one that refused to go out until they got the one thing they truly desired: victory. It was then that it became clear that this game was going to be one to remember.
The opening minutes of the game were filled with excitement and occasionally conflict. The ball started off in the hold of JIS, though it was later taken from them by TAS, only for JIS to retrieve it from them in an almost hot-potato like sequence. It was here that one of the first of many fouls in this game was made, with a TAS player getting accidentally knocked down by a separate player from JIS. The ball came under JIS’ hold at one point, and it was then that a player from TAS stepped up to show the skill of his team, stealing the ball from his opposition with a single swift swipe, enamoring the crowd with this display. At around the fifteen minute mark, TAS scored a goal, earning them even greater approval from the spectators. Following this, the two teams showed even more impressive displays of skill, such as an amazing deflections from both goalies and a long-distance header from a JIS player. Unfortunately, this did not ensure JIS a goal of their own and the team went without gaining a single point before the first period ended.
As the members of each team convened with one another during the break, an air of suspense entered the field, with some wondering if JIS would be able to make a comeback. Nevertheless, when the second period began, both teams were greeted by the roars of the crowd, pouring their hearts and souls into encouraging both teams. Eventually, JIS scored a goal thanks to their player Noah, tying them with their opposition. It was during this time when the first major injury of the game was seen when a member of the TAS team was knocked down while preventing a member of the opposition from scoring, forcing him off-field. An even more severe injury soon seen on the field, when a JIS boy was knocked down, sending him face forward onto the field where he lay for almost five whole minutes before being taken off the field by wheelchair. The scene was somewhat unnerving to say the least, with a slight clamour being heard in the crowd, wondering if the boy would be alright. Still, the game resumed, with a number of impressive moves continuously seen on both sides of the game, such as an incredible header from a member of the JIS team, which even drew a gasp from the crowd. The second period ended soon afterwards, with both teams congregating once more, giving them time to strategize and recuperate in preparation for the final period. As with the previous periods, this one saw a number of impressive moves from both the JIS and TAS teams, such as a number of smooth passes, headers and deflections. The game eventually came to an end with victory in the hands of JIS, scoring a total of two points in contrast to TAS’ singular point.
Though it was no doubt disappointing that their team lost, the TAS spectators were still extremely encouraging, praising their team after the game ended. The same can be said for their JIS counterparts, who all showed immense spirit in clapping and cheering for their players. Both teams should be commended for not only their great skills, but also for their intense concentration and passion shown throughout the game. They each worked together like a trained unit, making evident their well-honed communication skills. As stated earlier, they all had a fire in their eyes, an unbridled desire to win. Here’s to keeping that fire burning for next year’s competition as well!
