SAS is known as an unmatched team of IASAS Soccer. “I think that going up against SAS is both nerve-wracking but also very motivating,” says Charitra V, the goalkeeper of the JIS team. Upon commencing the soccer match, both teams were keen to put in their best for an intense game. Throughout the game, the teams were very evenly matched, with strong defense from both sides. Both teams put pressure on each other and prevented any goals from being scored during the first half. The second half continued in a similar manner. With a few brilliant tries at scoring from each team, the score remained at 0. Charitra V. the goalkeeper of JIS, recounted how there were several attempts at scoring, but she was able to block all of them. Ellie F, another JIS player mentions that, “our game was very evenly matched, and our team did a great job in maintaining defense throughout the field.”
A relatively calm match ended with a turn however. After 60 minutes, the score was still set at 0, with no teams having had successful attempts at scoring. The referee appointed two extra minutes of play in order to make up for any fouls, or to provide a potential for a goal. Those two minutes were very intense. “The last two minutes, no one expected what would happen,” Ellie F. of the JIS team mentioned. There was a throw in by the SAS team and the ball bounced towards Sarah P. She faced the goalkeeper, and she scored a successful goal, causing Singapore to emerge as the victors of the match. There was cheering for the SAS team after their truly amazing comeback in the final two minutes of a long match. The JIS team was let down, but put up a great fight throughout the entire game.
