The sun was out and the temperature was a very warm 32 degrees Celsius. The International School Manila (ISM) Bearcats and International School Bangkok (ISB) Panthers were unfazed by this weather, however, as their boys’ soccer teams played a spirited match against each other. As the game was at home for ISM, most of the spectators were rooting for the Bearcats. There were, of course, some guests from Bangkok cheering on the Panthers. At press time, the teams were deadlocked 1-1.
The game saw a lot of action-packed moments, especially the numerous close attempts at goals by both teams. Even the ISM superintendent, Mr. Toze, stood among the sea of green in the stands to watch the drama unfold on the pitch. The spectators also included many younger bearcats who vigorously cheered on their older schoolmates. The Panthers scored the first goal to the satisfaction of the visiting audience and were leading 1-0, to the dismay of many spectators. A near goal had the spectators at the edge of their seats in anticipation; however, the attempt did not make it in. When ISM finally tied the game by scoring their first goal, the ISM crowd erupted in cheers of delight.
