While the game started in favour of the Dragons, at 3-0, the Bearcats quickly caught up and won the first set with a score of 25-17.
The highlights of the first set included: multiple aces from the Bearcats, namely from Lapus and Gonzales (ISM Bearcat); a spectacular save from De Dios (ISM Bearcat) and Smyth (JIS Dragons); notable blocks and spikes from Olafsson (ISM Bearcat), Dickinson (ISM Bearcat), Aboitiz (#7 ISM Bearcat), and many from the JIS dragons as well, from especially from Calzini and Komala.
The second set started off with the ISM bearcats feeling more confident after their win in the first set, at 1-1. After a closer game than the previous, the ISM Bearcats won again, with a score of 25-19, bringing home the victory from the JIS dragons (as it is a three-set game, if you win the first two sets, you automatically win).
The first 6 players for the second set on the ISM team were #2 Aboitiz, #8 Lapus, #11 Olafsson, #6 Gonzales, #12 Najima, and #1 De Dios, while the first 6 on the JIS team were #12 Delgado, #1 Calzini, #15 Smyth, #2 Komala, #5 Rasmussen, and #18 Maaran.
The highlights of the second set include: more aces from the bearcats, from Lapus, Gonzales, Dickinson, Sanders, and Olafsson, and an ace from Delgado, some more blocks and spikes from (ISM Bearcat) Olafsson, Dickinson, Sanders, but also including those from JIS Dragons-- more from Calzini and Komala, and from Smyth and Kim.
With both teams showing some amazing volleyball skills on the court, we wish the best of luck to the ISM and JIS volleyball varsity girls on their upcoming games this afternoon, Friday and Saturday!
