The Number 1 seeded Taipei Tigers face off the Singapore American Eagles for the Gold in the MS gym. The TAS and SAS crowd came prepared with their school spirit. As it was the last game of the Super IASAS, the entirety of their respective teams joined in to watch the conclusion of the finals. The deciding game began with SAS’s #7 serving first.
SAS started with their usual show of dominating strength, demonstrated with their well placed spikes. However, TAS countered the SAS aggression with brilliant sliding saves from their libero Charlotte L. In addition to their superb play, the TAS crowd had an excessive amount of spirit which boosted the Tiger’s game, showcased in Sabrina C’s hard hitting spikes and tips. The final score was 25-16 to the Tigers.
TAS began the 2nd set much like their first set domination, supported by their always energetic crowd. The SAS team, led with brilliant serves from Harper W.-took a controlling lead early on in the game. The Tigers,determined not to let SAS win, came back from their deficit with the tandem of Sabrina C. and Charlotte L, where unlike the first set, the score was neck and neck for the entirety of the game. Much like the 2nd game however, Taipei took a lead late into the set with multiple blocks and served aces. From there, the Tigers never looked back.The final score of the second set was 25-20.
The third set was TAS’s game to lose. Throughout the game they looked like the superior team and it showed in their early third set lead 7-1. This lead was extended with Sabrina C’s speedy serves from the back. SAS fought valiantly. They did everything they could from hard spikes from Harper W. to timely blocks by Maya J.In the end, the Eagles were no match for the superb team play of the Taipei Tigers. The final score being 25-18.
