Before the excitement of the match between International School Manila (ISM) and International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), the anticipating crowd was treated to a performance by ISM’s Dance Company which revved up the crowd in preparation for the game. ISM, who had lost their match against the JIS Dragons were eager to take the win while ISKL entered the game after winning 2-1 win against the ISB Panthers.
ISM started off with the ball with Joaquin C. (#12), their setter, serving deep into ISKL’s defense. ISKL seemed to be pulling ahead but Benjamin. R (#16), ISM’s captain, spiked the ball straight down onto ISKL’s side of the court giving the serve back to ISM.
The audience then anxiously sat by the edge of their seats as a heated rally commenced between both teams– hustling to safely return every ball. ISKL did a quick play with Christian V. (#13) hitting the ball from the middle position, putting an end to the rally. Other highlights of this set include an amazing one-handed dig which saved the ball, by ISM’s libero Rajan S. (#8), and a kill by Brian C. (#18), a four year IASAS volleyball participant from ISM; both of which made ISM fans jump to their feet. The first set concluded with a score of 25-20 to ISKL.
The second set saw ISM’s only freshman, Jacob T. (#11), scoring points through his blocks and tips. Jared F. (#6) and Samuel J. (#15) attacked with quick plays and aggressive hits, scoring points against ISKL. However, ISKL came out as the victor with a score of 25-22 due to their expert ability in placing the ball in the open space on the court.
Great job to both ISM and ISKL and best of luck to our bearcats for their upcoming home matches.
