Today’s first boys football game began the competition intensely, after ISB tied one and won one game yesterday, while TAS tied one and lost one game.
The first half immediately showed the strength of ISB in getting the ball across the field, as well as extremely strong defense of TAS. The first rally across the field begins with a great pass to Dennis (#14), and an impressive save by Tseng (#9). The first close shot missed ISB’s goal, which then gave them opportunity to present skill-full passes allowing them approach to the TAS goal. Several handballs occurred in the first half, resulting in one especially exciting kick by Tsai (#7), almost scoring on ISB.
As the game continued and the ball moved back and forth, ISB got quite a few shots at TAS, each blocked or saved by a truly impressive defense and an amazing goalie, Haynes (#1). A defender proven to be especially strong was Tsai (#7). During the first half, a lot of the game was being played dangerously close to the TAS goal, with a lot of corners and throw-ins on their side, making it especially important to have a solid defense. Eventually, this led to a goal kick, which got the ball mid-court immediately, and helped TAS advance, and quickly TAS was in the offensive position. Unfortunately, the shot taken went too high, and the score remained 0 - 0.
Other memorable moments in the first half included both Kaden (#10) and Shahmeer (#7) getting hit in the face by balls, an exciting dribble up and close shot by Graham (#5), saved at the last moment by the goalie, as well as a number of other strong shots at TAS, each saved or missed. Finally, at the very end of the first half, with a score of 0 - 0 still standing, ISB’s Samuel (#24) fell, having badly injured his ankle, unable to join the remainder of the game. Very quickly after this incident, the first half was over, no scores having been done.
After half time, the game moved quickly, both teams eager to score before the end of the game. Quite a few fouls happened in the second half, each one blocked, and one especially impressive block by Ludovic (#16) who head-butted it. The second half proved that Haynes, the TAS goalie, was incredibly skilled in diving, and made many brilliant saves. Kaden (#10) became the second ISB player to fall and injure his ankle, also unable to play the remained of the game. ISB showed great skill in interception and tackling, while TAS kept up their powerful defense. Eventually, Idan (#12) scored on TAS after a beautiful pass, leading to what became the only score of the game, ending the match with a final score of 1 - 0 for ISB.
