IASAS track and Field 2018 was kicked off with the 3000 meter race. Although ISM’s track was boiling in the 36 degree weather, the spirit of the IASAS track and field athletes and the keen observers remained unaffected.
The boys race started off with clear leaders William. C from ISB and Eric S. from SAS. As the race progressed, the 2 athletes seemed to be running side by side at a similar pace. Other runners which closely followed the leading 2 were athletes from TAS and ISB. However, near the end of the race, William C. from ISB finished off strong with a sprint, ultimately winning the event at a time of 9 minutes 13 seconds. Both the first and second place athletes broke the last IASAS record for the Boys 3000 m - an admirable feat.
For the Girls 3000M race, there was also a clear lead, with 3 SAS athletes leading. However, as the race progressed, SAS runner Mikela M. was clearly and consistently ahead of the others. Mikela M. finished the race off with a sprint as well, coming in 11 minutes and 6 seconds, 14 seconds ahead of second place, Kayla. F from ISKL.
From these results, it is clear that we can expect great things from the IASAS Track & Field athletes in the days to come!
